Strictly Beats: Apathy - Honkey Kong (Instrumentals)

"I Dedicate this to You" is on heavy rotation.  Both the instrumental and full version.  Can never get enough of the Phil Spector "Wall of Sound" collage chopped up over a funky boom bap beat with an alternating snare.  I got to say that Apathy is blessed with some good beats and here are all of them from his "Honkey Kong" album.

Enjoy!

Little Brother - Whatever You Say (Analog Remix)

A smooth groove crafted from the mind of Mysterio for this remix.

Operation: Doomsday (Instrumentals)

I bought that and yep I pretty much have bought everything the guy put out since the first KMD 12" dropped back in the 90's.  Hot off the presses.  I skipped his last effort, JJ Doom, but anxiously await Madvillainy 2 (or should we say 3 since Madlib remixed the first one already).

Anyhow - here are the beats for the deluxe edition.  Most of which were pulled from the actual 12" records released on Fondle Em.

Enjoy like I do

Stark

Synths glide over the drum machinations of Mysterio.

Ras Kass - Anything Goes (Analog Remix)

Mysterio stripped the digital units and plugged in some analog sounds to accentuate the lyrics of this classic Ras Kass' song.

Gravediggaz - Night The Earth Cried (Analog Remix)

Mysterio filpped, chopped, scrubbed and layered some dusty soul samples over the drum programming he created to give a nod to the excellent lyrics delivered by these gravediggaz.

Grand Puba - A Little of This (Analog Remix)

Crispy yet dusty samples layer the drum track programmed by Mysterio as he revisits the smooth sounds of this well rounded Grand Puba song.

Heltah Skeltah - Gunz N Onez (Analog Remix)

Another track Mysterio mixed with Digital Instrumentation but this time he stripped it down and layered some analog samples all chopped up and spread over the multiple drum tracks.

Here is the Main Version, Instrumental & Sample Set

Nas - Get Down (Analog Remix)

Mysterio decided to revamp a song that has been remixed a bunch of times.  Anyhow - this here his take with dialogue provided by Gil Scott Heron that compliments Nas' lyrics perfectly.

Pharcyde - Runnin' (Analog Remix)

Mysterio wasn't really ecstatic about the Digital Version of his song so he decided to chop up some samples and place them carefully over the drum track he created.

Strictly Beats: SupremeEx - Angelic Groove

Such a great groove here.  Could fit in a video game perfectly or in an episode of Carl Sagan's Cosmos television series.  Incredible.

Rap Pioneer (8 Track Remastered) Instrumental

One of my favorites from the 2000 time period where I sampled some old James Bond record inspired by hours upon hours of Goldeneye on the Nintendo 64.

Stop On By (8 Track Remastered) (Instrumental)

This could of been an E.N.S. produced beat from back in the day or it might of been Claw or maybe, possibly Mysterio.  Who knows.  Anyhow, here it is.

Strictly Beats: DJ Premier (For Gang Starr) - The Question Remains (Instrumental)

I can listen to this instrumental and to the song over and over and over.  Once again Primo is extremely effective with his "less is more" technique.  Classic.

Strictly Beats: Prince Paul - And The Winner Is?

And The Winner Is?

Prince Paul.  Of course.  The definitive hip hop producer who remains under rated and thoroughly ignored all these years later.  I know he drops some unreleased gems via his Soundcloud account but this was one of the released cuts on a conceptual instrumental album.  Solid.

Strictly Beats: RZA for Wutang Clan - Triumph (Instrumental)

RZA delivered the goods on the Wu-Tang Clan's lopsided double album.  To me it is still hit or miss for the most part on the very long player but this track here stands out sonically.

Strictly Beats: Mark Mothersbaugh - 75 Year Plan

Not so much a "beat" as just a good piece of music from an excellent film.  Mark Mothersbaugh delivers a short and sweet cut to set up the movie.
