Strictly Beats: Louis Logic - Factotum

I love this beat which Louis Logic used very well to discuss his alcohol problem or problem with not getting enough alcohol.  Either way the production was tight.

Strictly Beats: Thunderball - Scorpio Rising

There is something real hypnotic about this album including the album cover which is a throwback to the 60's and 70's 007 flicks.  The name rings true too to that effect.  The music reflects this vibe very well as noted in this little gem.

Mysterio October 2010 Zip File

All the files from October 2010 on this blog are zipped up here for download.

MF Doom - Change The Beat (Analog Remix)

Mysterio did two digital remixes of this song and decided to give it the analog touch with some new vocal snippets and some blues samples.

Big L - Flamboyant (Analog Remix)

Mysterio gave a new spin on one of the Big L classics.  Complete with dusty samples culled from his own personal crates.

Inspectah Deck Rec Room (Digital Remix)

Mysterio went back to the lab and stripped the analog samples and laid down some digital synths to give a new spin on this Deck classic.

Strictly Beats: Diamond D - Stunts, Blunts & Hip Hop

Which track can I really pick off of this solidly produced album by Diamond D?  Well, the title song for starters.  When I had this track on tape back in the day I could not play it enough and wonder how he could chop up samples like he said he did.  It turns out he really didn't but he did dig in the crates and pull out some great samples.

Strictly Beats: Architect - Rotation 10371/3 Mph

This track produced by Homeliss Derelix producer Architect is one of my favorite instrumentals.  Pure genius.

Whether he bit DMX or DMX bit back the production by Erick Sermon on this track is a classic.

Strictly Beats: RZA - Duel of the Iron Mic

The sample found here provides the backbone of this classic track produced by the RZA for the GZA.  Great stuff culled from the crates.

Black Star - Bright As The Stars (Analog Remix)

Mysterio grafted a dark groove for the Black Stars to shine on thru.  Mos Def & Talib Kweli should of stuck togeher.  Whatever happened to their second album?  Forget the other deadly combination - these guys were Grrrrrrrrrrrrreat!  Ha ha ha.  Enjoy!

Strictly Beats: Dust Brothers (for Beastie Boys) - Car Thief

The whole Paul's Boutique album is filled with tons of samples carefully put together and this is one of the stand outs to me.  Or it just brings me back riding cross country in a van in 1989 listening to the marble cassette tape.

Strictly Beats: Atmosphere - Sunshine

Great beat for a great song by Atmosphere.  Even without the thoughtful lyrics, by Slug, the music composed by Ant still stands out on its own.
